VOIDS
VOIDS
Voids can occur under concrete, asphalt or just normal ground.
We aim to map the depths and locations of voids in the ground, below road surfaces or below concrete slab floors before they become a dangerous sink hole.
One of the most frequent causes of cracking of concrete is the presence of voids in the sub-base under the slab.
Voids occur if the sub-base was not adequately levelled and compacted before the concrete was poured or if water is getting under the slab and eroding the sub-base.
We use ground penetrating radar to clearly and accurately identify the location of any voids so you may avoid having to remove and replace large slabs of concrete to locate and fill in the voids.
Irrespective of whether the concrete is a floor slab, a wall or even a column, in cases where the slump of the concrete is incorrect there may be voids in the actual concrete itself. Once we have identified these, the concrete can be drilled and injected to effect a permanent and cost effective repair.
